Bo wanted to...

Bo wanted to record a few Christmas videos to share with the world. If the video below doesn't work, try this link.

Since we got up this morning, we've been talking about who is coming to see us today. To explain the video a little bit: Max is my parent's dog who is super sweet and loves to play with Bo. Bo is old and cranky, and doesn't like to share his toys, so, I can't say their feelings are mutual. Tyler is my brother and besides Blake, he's Bo's favorite fighting buddy. the desk

the hotdog that you saw in the video below is the subject of this post as well. You see, it is version 2 of the hotdog that I got for him back in may. It has been his obsession since that moment. The original hotdog is now discolored and missing it's squeaker. I mentioned to my mom that it was time for a new hotdog and I haven't been able to find one around us, but she knew where to find one. And by one, I actually mean 2. She got him a new hotdog AND a new hamburger. Blake and I thought that since he still had the old hotdog, we'd hold the new one back till the hamburger is worn out, so I put the hotdog on the desk... out of his reach... so I thought. The other evening, I was getting dinner together and turned around and he had the NEW hotdog in his mouth. I asked Blake if he gave it to Bo, and no, he hadn't. I couldn't figure out how he had gotten it, so I put it back on the desk and watched. This is what I saw...

Bo's favorite game.

I made a movie displaying bo's favorite game. The "prize" is one of his favorite toys, a hot dog. Blake was playing this game with him yesterday and bo searched (without us realizing) for 30 minutes. Needless to say, he was distressed when the search came to an end. We don't usually let it go that long. He usually finds his toy long before that mark. Not last night though! I thought his search warranted a post and video of his own. Enjoy!

decorating efforts

Here are a few pictures of our living room... new furniture and all. Blake and I... well, really blake, has been working hard on it. It has only taken 3 or 4 tries to get the curtain rod right, but that's another story.

A few of bo, because he was being so cute and he hasn't made the blog in a while.

Paranoid

Sorry for the lame pictures 2 posts in a row. The big camera is packed, and Blake has the other one, so I'm left to use the camera on my phone. Oh well. Since Blake packed his suitcase to go to NYC, Bo has been freaking out. The sight of any suitcase means freak out time for him. Yesterday, I packed all of our clothes, and really everything else in the apartment and left my suitcase for the weekend on the floor. Here's what Bo did... He climbed right in.He spent the rest of the evening in the suitcase, as well as the whole morning this morning. I guess he figured that I couldn't leave him if he was in it. Crazy guy.I'm about to head to the airport to pick up Blake. Bo an I have both missed him and are excited to get him back! I'm going to see what I can do to get him to write a blog about his few days there. It was a pretty busy trip.

Bath time with Bo

Last night, it was bath time for Bo. He HATES a bath more than anything. In fact, if he is being a jerk to either Blake or me, we tell him that it is bath time. That usually makes him nice again. All it takes is a threat. Anyway, I knew he was getting a bath last night, but I hadn't told him that yet. I was just doing dishes and getting the bath stuff ready (stealthfully, of course. I didn't want to tip him off.) It doesn't matter how careful I am about getting out the dog shampoo, conditioner, scissors, comb and towel... he still always figures it out and hides. Poor guy, he didn't hide well enough last night. He got a good hair cut and bath.
Here he is after the bath... wet, mad and cold. After I snuggled him for a little bit, it was hair dryer time. As usual, after that was over, he was HYPER. This is a picture I snapped of him with my phone in the 1 second I got him to be still. Crazy. There you have it. That is a typical bath time with Bo.

PS - I updated the sidebar for the blog. What do you think? Does it make finding things easier? Any suggestions?

the office = real life episode 2

Blake and I have enjoyed watching the Olympics this week, and when I saw this clip, it really made me laugh. If you haven't read my philosophy (originating from my mom) on who I live with (Blake and Bo), now might be a good time to catch up on it before you continue reading this post. Click here to go back to it.
Alright, so we are all read up now, huh? Now you are ready to continue with this clip of Dwight. Several times, I've posted about the hotdog (and other toys) that Bo is obsessed with, and while Bo may not go "rabbit hunting" or "hampster hiding" like Dwight talks about, he does go "monkey and hotdog hunting" when we hide his toys in random places around the apartment. He doesn't give up for anything for any reason. You might even say it is the same intensity as Dwight in the clip.

Here's another clip that for some reason seems to hit home. It just so happens to be Olympic related also. When we saw this clip on TV, Blake was picking on Bo at that very moment. I laughed out loud at him.

BUSTED!

Today was laundry day here at home. Normally that wouldn't really be "blog worthy", and it still isn't except I just had to share what I found as I was cleaning out all of the jeans pockets before throwing them in the wash. Here's what I found... 2 wrinkled receipts and 3 starburst wrappers. Looks like someone had some sugar... (blake)... the 7-eleven receipt was for a chocolate donut and a cinnamon roll... mmm, the things you can find out about a person by digging in their pockets. Love you, Blake! And, I've written about this before, but I finally caught a picture. This is Bo digging for his beloved hotdog that I hid under the covers. Check out that tail... straight up in the air. He was moving so fast that most of the pictures I took of him, he was blurry. I finally had to resort to my flash... not something I like to do. Crazy... crazy for sure.

hide-n-seek

I just got home from taking Blake to work and I was just hanging out reading some email when I realize that bo isn't in sight. I think... "hmmm... this isn't normal... I wonder where he is."

So, I to look in the bed, and he isn't there. I look in the bathroom, under the chairs... We don't really have many places to look in this apartment, so I start calling his name... And then I turn around and see him in the closet. What the heck?

my boys...

Just now, bo was craving some attention, so what did Blake do? Well, he went and put on some sweat pants, of course. Why sweat pants, you ask? They have elastic around the ankles. Yes, he is that cool. The real reason for the pants was so that he could hide Bo's favorite toy in the leg and let him search for it. Bo scratches and scratches until he can't anymore and then finds a way to fight on. It's a great game. Just thought I'd share.

Bo, the health nut

Blake and I discovered something quite interesting today. It went something like this...
Blake had a hand full of baby carrots and was eating them. Bo is always very interested in anything that Blake is eating, and today was no exception. I told Blake that he should give Bo a little bite of carrot just to see if he would eat it. Shock of all shocks... he did! Blake gave him another bite, and he ate that as well! What a strange dog... Blake then gave him a whole baby carrot and he chomped down on the entire thing. I guess it is a good, healthy thing for him to eat, so I might try it again tomorrow.
Not a lot else happening here today, so I'll write more a little later. Good night!

my 2 boys

Sometimes I just have to laugh at the 2 guys I live with. Blake is usually pretty good at playing jokes on me or surprising me without me ever having any clue something is going on, but it is a sad day when my dog can do that. Bo makes it a regular habit of getting what he wants. If you've been around when he wants something, you know that he barks and gives serious attitude until I start asking the normal questions to discover exactly what he wants. "Bo, do you want to go outside?" . . . "Do you want to go for a walk?" . . . "Do you want supper/breakfast?" . . . "Do you want a treat/chicken/bacon?" . . . In this specific story, he wanted supper. So, I got up and got him supper. He did the normal take one bite and walk away. I didn't think too much of it, but a little later Blake looked over and said... "Did you feed him again?" I said, "What do you mean again? I fed him, but he didn't eat it yet." Blake said, "I already fed him tonight. You let him pull that on you?" I think Bo realized at this point that we had figured out his game, so he went over and finished off the food, so I couldn't take it away. Sad, sad, sad... my dog has figured out a way to "work the system". Oh well, I usually struggle to get him to eat at all, so, if he wants to eat extra, I'm all for it. I guess I'm the true winner in this game.
On another note, we had a BEAUTIFUL day today. This afternoon we went down to the park for a picnic. We grabbed some Subway sandwiches and blanket and searched for the perfect spot. We found it, spread out the blanket, and sat down. We enjoyed our sandwiches while Bo watched the people and dogs as they passed by. What a beautiful day!
You remember on Mrs. Congeniality, the part where the girl was asked what her ideal date was? Well, my ideal date was today.... April 23. It wasn't too cold or hot (75 degrees), just a whisper of wind, nice sunny day, children playing in the background, flowers and trees blooming, and best of all... an amazing husband to share it all with. Ahhh... the perfect "date".

Spring is here... well, getting close.

Bo was begging to go down to the park today, so I decided that it might be fun to take my camera along. Spring is getting close. We didn't see many tulips, but lots of the yellow and white flowers (what are they called, mom?)
Spring is my favorite time here in NYC, and I always enjoy getting out to take pictures of flowers, so it was a fun day! Oh yeah, I also took Bo to the dog park as he requested.
I took a lot more pictures, so if you want to see them, go to... www.blakeandwhitney.com/springflowers
The tulips... just about ready to bloom!

busy, busy!

Today was a busy busy day.  I had a lot of stuff to get done, but... it's done!  Bo even got to join in on the fun. I had a bunch of errands to run and he was itching to be outside.  Blake was sleeping after working all night, so I just decided to drag Bo along so he wouldn't bother Blake.  We walked down to pick up some headshots I had printed to be delivered next.  Then, we walked down to the subway and hopped on for a ride down to Grand Central.  How many dogs can say they have ridden on the subway?  Well, none, because dogs don't talk.  Bo charmed everyone he met and sat quietly on my lap.  We got there, handed off the photos to my clients who were headed out to an audition and headed back up to our hood.  We made a few stops along the way to get my watch fixed, went into Petco, and got some fruit/veggies from the vendor on the street.  By the time we made it home... he was TIRED. (mission accomplished!) He climbed up in HIS chair and went to sleep.  (Here's a photo of Bo in his chair.)
Next on my list of things to do was laundry.  I know... all you folks in the real world (aka - anywhere outside of NYC) think... "No big deal.  Everyone has to do it."  Well, here it is an all day task because I have to carry it down our stairs (we live on the 4th floor) and down 4 blocks.  Once I get it there, it isn't so bad to get a weeks worth of laundry done all at once, it is just the hauling part that stinks.  I got busy washing and jamming to my tunes on the iphone.  I got it all done, folded and loaded back in the bag and started the trek back home and carried it back up the stairs.  By this time, Blake was about ready to get up so he helped me put the clothes up and hang the ones that aren't safe in the machine.  What a great guy.
Let's see... still on the list for tonight... Community group.  So, I showered up so that I was nice and clean (since I have all clean clothes now) and I didn't want to stink in front of my friends.  No time for dinner, so we stopped by Subway for a sub...  ate it quickly and finally walked down to our friends apt for the group.  Phew!
The "ice breaker" for the group tonight was... "How were you feeling before you came to Community Group tonight?"  I could only think of 1 answer... TIRED!

Bo and his friends at the park

Today, Blake and I took Bo to the park down at the end of the block
because he was itching to get outside and see some spring. Well, it
isn't really spring here yet, but it has warmed up quite a bit. You
have to understand... Bo HATED the dog park when we first moved here.
He is a lot smaller than the other dogs (even in the "small dog"
park.) He is doing much better with it now, and today he even had
some fun! This is the first time he didn't spend more time in my lap
than he did running around. Such a cutie. Here are some photos from
the outing.

Notice... none of Bo's 4 legs are touching the ground in the next one.

Laaaaazy

Here's the crazy furry one that lives in our house... King of the
couch. No, I'm not talking about Blake... It's Bo of course! What a
crazy dog. (notice his tounge hanging out.)

max and bo

So, Bo and I have been in Texas a few days now and he's been hanging out with cousin Max. I can't say they really enjoy each other. Bo is old and doesn't like to be picked on... and max is young and loves to play. Somehow they ended up in the same chair and I thought it was cute, so I grabbed my camera. Well, that's all for now.
PS... Blake has been in NYC and is coming into town tomorrow. Now, if you have read the post below, you know we were without hot water and heat for a few days after "the incident". Well, it turns out, he again did not have hot water for yesterday and most of today... Not to worry though... he said that we now do have hot water (now that he is coming to Texas.)
